The Florida Governor signed a law creating the Land Reserve Stewardship District (District) in Hillsborough County. The law includes: 1) authorizing the District to levy taxes and assessments; 2) providing that the District cannot levy ad valorem taxes until all members of the Board of Supervisors (Board) are elected by and are qualified electors of the District and the levy has been approved at a referendum as required by the Florida Constitution; and 3) providing that, exclusive of debt service on bonds, an ad valorem tax levy may not exceed 3 mills.
