The Florida Department of Revenue (DOR) Jan. 15 released a Tax Information Publication providing guidance on motor vehicle sales tax rates by state. The publication outlines the rules for motor vehicles sold in Florida to residents of other states, as well as vehicles purchased outside Florida and brought into the state. For non-resident purchasers, Florida allows a partial sales tax exemption based on the purchaser’s home state rate, provided they complete an affidavit and license the vehicle in their home state within 45 days.
