The Georgia Governor signed a law that includes: 1) providing that, for purposes of the local occupation tax, a business or practitioner may elect to provide affidavits of certified public accountants (CPAs) in lieu of tax returns or other financial information to local governments to facilitate their determination of the amount of occupation tax to be levied; and 2) providing that, for purposes of providing local taxing authorities information for allocating gross receipts of a business or practitioner in more than one jurisdiction, a business or practitioner may elect to provide affidavits of CPAs in lieu of tax returns.
