Georgia Amends Taxation of Electric Vehicle Charging Stations, Electricity Used as Motor Fuel

The Georgia Governor signed a law amending the taxation of electricity used as motor fuel and electric vehicle charging stations. The law includes: 1) adding a provision to the sales and use tax exemption for special fuels; and 2) amending a provision concerning sales and use tax exemptions for motor fuels. The law generally took effect on May 13, with certain provisions of the law taking effect on Jan. 1, 2027. [H.B. 652, enacted 05/13/25]
