Georgia Approves $2 Billion in Income and Property Tax Relief

Georgia residents will pocket $2 billion in income and property tax rebates under an amended budget for fiscal 2026, approved by Gov. Brian Kemp (R) Tuesday.

Kemp signed HB 973, which adjusts spending priorities through June 30 and sends surplus tax collections back to taxpayers. The budget law includes more than $1 billion for income tax rebates, which will be distributed in $250 checks sent to single filers and $500 checks to joint filers.
