Georgia Enacts Law on Hall County School District Property Tax Exemption, Raises Income Cap for Seniors

The Georgia Governor enacted a law granting property tax exemptions to residents of the Hall County school district. The law increases the income cap on the exemption for residents aged 62 to 65 from $25,000 to $40,000 and creates a new exemption for the first $400,000 of assessed property value for residents aged 66 or older. The law takes effect on Jan. 1, 2027, if approved by voters in a referendum. [H.B. 1340, enacted 05/12/26]
