Georgia Enacts Law on Property Tax Exemption for Gainesville Residents

The Georgia Governor enacted a law providing a $10,000 property tax exemption for qualifying residents in the City of Gainesville. The law includes definitions, procedures, and terms and conditions of the exemption. The law takes effect on Jan. 1, 2027, if approved by voters in a referendum. [H.B. 1601, enacted 05/12/26]
