Georgia Enacts Law Providing Homestead Exemption for City of Metter Elderly Residents

The Georgia Governor signed a law providing a $4,000 homestead tax exemption, for residents 65 years or older whose income does not exceed$10,000, from City of Metter ad valorem property taxes. The law includes: 1) definitions; 2) clarifying the terms and conditions of the exemption and related procedures; and 3) clarifying the eligibility for the exemption. [S.B. 575, enacted 05/11/26]
