Georgia Extends MARTA Sales and Use Tax Sunset Date

The Georgia Governor signed a law that includes: 1) extending to June 30, 2068 the sunset date for the authority of local governing bodies to collect a retail sales and use tax for purposes of the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA); 2) creating the Georgia Transportation Efficiency Authority (Authority); 3) providing an exemption from taxation for the Authority; and 4) providing that the exemption from taxation for the Authority does not apply to the sale or use of motor fuel..
