Georgia Governor Signs Law Providing Homestead Exemption From City of Chamblee Ad Valorem Taxes

The Georgia Governor April 30 signed a law providing a homestead exemption from the City of Chamblee ad valorem taxes for city purposes in the amount of $30,000.00 of the assessed value of the homestead for certain residents of that city who are under 65 years of age. The law includes measures: 1) increasing the exemption to $50,000.00; 2) providing for compliance with constitutional requirements; and 3) repealing conflicting laws. The law took effect April 30.
