The Georgia Governor April 25 signed a law amending property tax provisions regarding the homestead exemption from City of Doraville ad valorem taxes. The law includes measures: 1) providing for the exemption for municipal purposes in the amount of $25,000 of the assessed value of the homestead for residents of that city; 2) providing that each resident of the city is granted an exemption on that person’s homestead in the amount of $10,000 of the assessed value plus an amount that provides the dollar equivalent of a 2.5 mill reduction of the millage rate applicable to the homestead property; and ...
