Georgia Provides $100,000 Homestead Exemption for Cartersville Residents

The Georgia Governor signed a law providing City of Cartersville residents with a $100,000 homestead exemption from municipal ad valorem taxes. This exemption applies only to city taxes, is in addition to any other applicable homestead exemptions, and requires a one-time application with automatic renewal thereafter. The law takes effect on Jan. 1, 2027, if approved by voters in a referendum. [H.B. 1321, enacted 05/11/26]
