Georgia Provides Homestead Exemption for Hampton Residents

The Georgia Governor signed a law providing a homestead exemption from City of Hampton ad valorem taxes for municipal purposes to residents who have lived in the city for five years or more. The exemption would not affect state, county, or school district ad valorem taxes. The law takes effect on Jan. 1, 2027, if approved by voters in a referendum. [H.B. 1492, enacted 05/11/26]
