Gun-rights and gun-safety advocates in Georgia pushed for tax bills advancing their often-conflicting agendas, but little got done by the time the General Assembly closed out its legislative session.
Three bills containing language to establish a five-day Second Amendment sales tax holiday on guns, ammunition, gun safes, and related accessories failed to pass both the Senate and the House, said Jerry Henry, executive director of the gun-rights group Georgia 2nd Amendment. At various times during the legislative session, language creating the holidays was added to SB 344, HB 170, and HB 943.
