The Hawaii Department of Taxation (DoTax) published a tax facts document providing guidance for parent-teacher organizations and other school-related nonprofit organizations on tax requirements and exemptions. The document covers forming a nonprofit organization, applying for tax exemptions, income tax filing and donation rules, general excise tax (GET) and use tax obligations for fundraising activities, and GET registration and reporting.
