Houston Astros Sue Texas for Refund of Sales Tax on Giveaways

Houston Astros LLC want Texas to refund more than $465,000 it paid in sales tax on bobbleheads, t-shirts, and other promotional souvenirs the team bought to give away to fans at games.

Texas’s sales tax exemption for items bought for resale applies to the souvenirs, which customers bought as part of their taxable tickets to the games, the Major League Baseball team told the Texas District Court of Travis County in a complaint filed Monday.
