The Idaho Department of Agriculture Oct. 20 proposed to reauthorize regulations on bulk permits and retail sale of potatoes for excise tax purposes. The proposal includes measures to: 1) govern permit fees and requests, marketing order requirements, and applications for bulk shipments; 2) require the first handler or shipper to apply through the nearest District Inspection Office for a permit to ship bulk potatoes; 3) require permittees to pay the potato advertising tax at combined grower-shipper rates for either fresh or processing potatoes, and inspection fees, if required, within 30 days of shipment; and 4) specify the general requirements for ...
