Illinois Amends Property Tax Code, Includes Cook County 2023 Annual Tax Sale Provision

The Illinois Governor signed a law amending the Property Tax Code. The law includes: 1) providing that, in Cook County, the application for judgment and order of sale for the 2023 annual tax sale that would normally be held in calendar year 2025 shall be filed on or before Dec. 1, 2026; and 2) providing that, in Cook County, interest shall not accrue between Sept. 2, 2025 and Jan. 1, 2027 on delinquent warrant year 2023 tax balances.
