The Chicago Department of Finance announced changes to the Ground Transportation Tax applicable to holders of City-issued livery (LY) plates, effective July 1. Under the new structure, city livery operators will pay a flat tax of $98 per vehicle per month rather than the previous $3.50 per day tax imposed when a vehicle was used in Chicago. Accounts with one or two LY plates will pay annually, while accounts with three or more LY plates will remit tax quarterly.
