Illinois DOR Clarifies Renewable Energy Charge

The Illinois Department of Revenue (DOR) issued a general information letter regarding the renewable energy resources and coal technology development assistance charge. The letter states that the renewable energy charge, collected by utilities from customer accounts for electricity and natural gas service, has been extended to Dec. 31, 2030, by Public Act 104-0010. The letter also addresses inquiries about the applicability of the charge to customers who are billed for solar energy services while still receiving utility bills. [Ill.
