Illinois DOR Issues Guidance on Tax Collection at Special Events

The Illinois Department of Revenue (IDOR) July 1 issued guidance on tax collection at special events. The guidance contains information explaining: 1) the tax collection process at special events such as fairs, festivals, flea markets, or craft shows; 2) the responsibilities of retailers at these events; and 3) how retailers should file Form ST-1 for the tax period during which such events took place, ensuring that both state and local taxes are correctly collected and reported.
