Illinois DOR Proposes Amending Rule on Telecommunications Excise Tax

The Illinois Department of Revenue (DOR) proposed amendments to rules on the telecommunications excise tax. The amendments implement changes made by the statute, including the exclusion of charges to quantum computing campuses from gross charges and the increase in the tax rate from 7 percent to 8.65 percent, effective July 1, 2025.
