Illinois DOR Proposes Regulation Amending Telecommunications Excise Tax Rules

The Illinois Department of Revenue (DOR) June 7 proposed a regulation amending telecommunications excise tax rules. The proposal includes measures to: 1) clarify that amounts added to a purchaser’s bill because of a charge made under certain conditions are not included in the definition of gross charges; 2) provide that charges for a sent collect telecommunication received outside of the state are not included in gross charges; and 3) provide a list of other charges not included in gross charges.
