Illinois DOR Releases Revised Instructions for Form RUT-25-LSE, Use Tax Return for Lease Transactions

The Illinois Department of Revenue Dec. 1, 2021 released revised instructions for Form RUT-25-LSE, Use Tax Return for Lease Transactions, for sales and use tax purposes. The instructions provide: 1) taxpayers must complete the form if they are titling or registering in Illinois a motor vehicle, watercraft, aircraft, trailer, mobile home, snowmobile, or all-terrain vehicle that they leased through an unregistered out-of-state dealer or retailer; 2) taxpayers must not use the form for non-leased items purchased from an unregistered out-of-state dealer or retailer or if they lease an item through an Illinois dealer; 3) taxpayers must file the form and ...
