Illinois Governor Amends Property Tax Code to Allow Home Rule Municipalities to Abate Tax

The Illinois Governor Aug. 9 signed a law amending the property tax code to allow home rule municipalities to abate tax. The law provides that the abatement for property located in an area of urban decay also applies to newly remodeled single-family or duplex residential dwelling units. The law takes effect Aug. 9.
