Illinois Launches Task Force Aimed at Property Tax Relief

Illinois lawmakers will have four months to develop a comprehensive property tax relief plan—a strategy that could create momentum for Gov. J.B. Pritzker’s broader goal of replacing the state’s flat tax with a graduated income tax.

Pritzker signed legislation, S.B. 1932, creating the Illinois Property Tax Relief Task Force. The bill was one of several the first-term Democrat signed Aug. 2, including measures extending the film production and research and development tax credits.
