The Illinois Governor signed the Municipal and Cooperative Electric Utility Transparent Planning Act. The law includes: 1) providing for the determination of the fair cash value of commercial energy storage system improvements beginning in assessment year 2026; 2) providing that owners of commercial energy storage systems are liable for the real estate taxes for the land and real property improvements of commercial energy storage systems, and the owners of land upon which commercial energy storage systems are located may pay any unpaid tax of the commercial energy storage system parcel prior to the initiation of any tax sale proceedings; and ...
