The Indiana Department of Revenue (DOR) has announced that the gasoline use tax rate for May 2026 is 23.3 cents per gallon. The rate was calculated under IC 6-2.5-3.5-15 using a statewide average retail gasoline price of $3.3233 for the period March 16 through April 15, multiplied by the 7 percent state retail tax rate and rounded to the nearest one-tenth of one cent. The gasoline use tax applies to refiners, terminal operators, and qualified distributors required to collect the tax and is updated monthly by the department. [Ind.
