The Indiana Department of Revenue (DOR) Dec. 6 posted a letter ruling determining that Taxpayer provided additional verifiable documents, including a requested wage reconciliation, to support its protest against a corporate income tax audit. Taxpayer, a company, employed individuals to conduct its business and regularly withheld and remitted state and county income tax on wages it paid to its employees. In turn, Taxpayer deducted the wage expense on its income tax returns. The DOR conducted an audit and found that Taxpayer deducted an incorrect amount for wage expenses on its 2020 and 2021 returns for wages paid to its employees. ...
