Indiana DOR Issues Sales Tax Bulletin Regarding Sales of Motor Vehicles, Trailers

The Indiana Department of Revenue Feb. 1 issued an updated sales tax bulletin on sales of motor vehicles and trailers. Beginning July 1, a special tax rate applies to the purchase of recreational vehicles and cargo trailers by nonresidents of nonreciprocal states, which is the rate of the intended destination state or country. Taxpayers must complete Form ST-137RV to claim an exemption for a transaction involving a recreational vehicle or cargo trailer.
