Iowa became a sports betting state May 13 after Gov. Kim Reynolds signed legislation permitting wagering on live sports events and internet-based fantasy sports contests.
Reynolds (R) signed S.F. 617, allowing persons 21 years and older to wager on sporting events at any of the state’s casinos and from web-based platforms. An estimate by Iowa’s Legislative Services Agency suggests the state would net as much as $3.5 million annually from its new gambling law.
