Iowa DOR Issues Income Tax Information Regarding Permit Number Used to File W-2, 1099

The Iowa Department of Revenue (DOR) Feb. 1 issued information regarding permit numbers used by taxpayers to file Forms W-2, Wage Statements, and 1099, Information Returns, for individual income and corporate income tax purposes. All withholding permits are assigned a nine-digit permit number. The DOR recommends using the nine-digit permit number when possible. 12-digit numbers were previously assigned to permits issued before Nov. 15, 2021. The DOR accepts both the 12-digit and nine-digit permit numbers for filing withholding returns, W-2s, and 1099s. A Verified Summary of Payments is filed separately from W-2s and 1099s.
