The IRS announced the fifth item on its annual “Dirty Dozen” scams warning list, according to a Monday release from the agency.
The agency warned taxpayers that the Covid-19 pandemic is still being used to steal money and identities with bogus emails, social media posts, and unexpected phone calls.
Specific COVID-19 frauds cited include fake charities and attempts to scam people using the stimulus payment program.
