Japan Announces Entry Into Force Date of DTA With Turkmenistan

The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs Oct. 28 announced that the DTA with Turkmenistan, signed Dec. 16, 2024, will enter into force Nov. 27, 2025. The DTA applies from: 1) taxable years beginning on or after Jan. 1, 2026, for taxes levied based on a taxable year; 2) Jan. 1, 2026, for taxes not levied based on a taxable year; and 3) Nov. 27, for the exchange of tax information and assistance in tax collection, regardless of the date on which taxes are levied or the taxable year to which the taxes relate.
