Just 10 People Paid Bulk of Washington’s New Capital Gains Tax

More than half of the $855 million in capital gains excise tax that Washington state brought in this year came from only 10 of the thousands of people who paid the new levy, officials said Thursday.


Revenue has increased slightly since April, when the department had received $838 million within two days of the April 18 payment deadline.
