The Kansas Department of Revenue (DOR) issued a notice announcing temporary changes to short-term rental properties, transient guest tax, and various liquor sales during the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The notice includes provisions in House Bill 2481 that: 1) prohibit municipalities from limiting short-term rental permits from May 15 through July 25; 2) temporarily redefine “transient guest” to include short-term rentals during that period; and 3) allow extended hours for liquor sales from June 11 through July 19.
