Kansas Enacts Sale, Use Tax Exemptions Including Certain Motor Vehicle Sales, Purchases by Veterans

The Kansas legislature enacted a law, over the Governor’s veto, concerning sales and use taxation. The law includes: 1) a sales and use tax deduction from the purchase sales price of a new or used motor vehicle in the amount of the proceeds of a used motor vehicle sold by the purchaser within 120 days before or after the purchase, beginning Jan. 1, 2025; 2) a manufacturer’s coupons sales tax exclusion, beginning Jan. 1, 2025; 3) a disabled veterans sales tax exemption, capped at $24,000 of taxable sales per year, and subject to certain exclusions, for tangible personal property and ...
