The Kansas Governor signed a law concerning property taxation. The law includes providing that any municipality creating a subordinate service taxing area and appoints its governing body require that all appointed voting members be residents of the taxing area if the municipality: 1) imposes or authorizes a property tax on residents or authorizes the governing body to impose a property tax; or 2) authorizes the governing body to set a budget and spend funds for public services in the area. The law takes effect after its publication in the statute book. [H.B. 2769, enacted 04/09/26]
