The Kentucky Department of Insurance April 9 issued a bulletin with updates on the local government premium tax for insurance companies and surplus lines brokers for excise tax purposes. The bulletin includes: 1) local government premium tax collection; 2) the determination of tax liabilities; 3) exemptions, return requirements, and tax rates; 4) flat fees and collection fees; and 5) appeals for refunds, credits, or assessments.
