The Kentucky Department of Revenue (DOR) adopted an emergency regulation freezing the state excise tax rates on gasoline and special fuels to prevent an automatic increase scheduled for July 1. The emergency measure responds to projected increases that would have raised the gas tax by an estimated 0.6 cents per gallon during a period of significantly elevated fuel prices caused by the war in Iran and rising inflation. The regulation took effect May 6. [Ky. Dep’t of Revenue, Emergency Reg. 103 KAR 43:341E, 06/01/26 Ky. Admin. Reg.]
