Skims Body Inc. will pay a $200,000 civil penalty to resolve allegations that it violated New Jersey’s consumer protection laws by collecting sales tax on exempt clothing, the state attorney general announced Tuesday.
The online apparel company, founded by celebrity Kim Kardashian, reached a consent order with the state over claims that it collected New Jersey’s 6.623% sales tax from consumers from 2019 to 2024. Skims has already remitted the improperly collected sales tax to the New Jersey Division of Taxation and attempted to identify and reimburse affected customers, Attorney General Matthew Platkin said.
