Louisiana Amends to Limit Maximum Adjusted Gross Income Limit for Homestead Exemption

The Louisiana Governor signed a law to increase the maximum adjusted gross income limit from $100,000 to $150,000, for homeowners to qualify for the special assessment level property tax rate on owner-occupied residences with homestead exemptions. The new income limit would be adjusted annually for inflation starting in 2028. The law takes effect on Jan. 1, 2027, upon public approval. [H.B. 300, enacted 06/13/25]
