Louisiana Authorizes Income Tax Data Disclosure for Medicaid, SNAP Fraud Prevention

The Louisiana Governor signed a law concerning the Medicaid program and the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP). The law includes: 1) authorizing the legislative auditor to access individual-level state income tax return data to ensure accuracy and prevent fraud in the Medicaid and SNAP programs; and 2) authorizing the DOR to disclose individual-level state income tax return data to the legislative auditor, upon request, to ensure accuracy and prevent fraud in the Medicaid and SNAP programs.
