The Louisiana Governor June 27 signed a law modifying the federal individual income tax deduction for taxpayers impacted by Hurricane Ida. The law includes a measure specifying that for taxable periods from Jan. 1, 2020, to Dec. 31, 2021, federal income tax liability is increased by the amount by which an individual’s federal income tax was decreased as a result of claiming the increased federal standard deduction or the federal itemized deduction for certain net disaster losses attributable to Hurricane Ida.
