Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry will bring lawmakers back for a 20-day special legislative session after the November election to address his plan to overhaul the state tax code.
Landry (R) issued a proclamation over the weekend convening an “extraordinary session” from Nov. 6 to Nov. 25 “to propose amendments to the constitution and legislate relative to revenue and finance.” The proclamation lists 23 items for legislative action focusing on the state’s primary revenue programs, including the personal and corporate income taxes, the sales tax, the corporate franchise tax, and tax credit programs targeting economic development.
