Louisiana Lawmakers Move Toward Sales Tax Harmony

The Louisiana Senate approved legislation simplifying the sales tax code, responding to criticism the Pelican State administers the most complicated sales tax system in the country.

The Senate approved one bill late Wednesday and another Thursday to streamline state and parish level filing and auditing practices. Two other bills aimed at harmonizing tax systems are under consideration.
