Louisiana Legislature Passes Law Increasing Tax Rates on Cigarettes

The Louisiana state legislature passed a law increasing tax rates on cigarettes. The various new tax rates apply to tax years beginning on or after July 1, 2025. The law also expands definitions related to tobacco products like “smokeless tobacco” and “vapor products”. The law takes effect July 7. [H.B. 669, 07/01/25]
