Maryland Comptroller Announces Tax Penalty Waiver for Businesses Impacted by Francis Scott Key Bridge Collapse

The Maryland Comptroller of Public Accounts announced March 29 that the Office of the Comptroller will waive certain tax late payment penalties and interest for Maryland businesses through May 31 to mitigate the economic impact of the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse. The waiver of late payment penalties and interest will apply to all business filings for the following tax types with due dates between Jan. 1 and May 31: 1) Employer Withholding Tax; 2) Sales and Use Tax; 3) Tobacco Tax; 4) Motor Fuel Tax; 5) Admissions and Amusement Tax; 6) Tire Fee; 7) Bay Restoration Fee; and 8) ...
