Maryland Comptroller Issues Information on Deadline Extensions, Penalty, Interest Waivers for Individual Income Tax

The Maryland Comptroller Jan. 19 issued a tax alert on a new extended deadline for individual income tax returns and payments granted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tax alert includes that: 1) the due date for tax year 2021 resident and nonresident individual income tax returns is extended to July 15 for returns originally due between Jan. 24 and April 18, including for individual returns for farmers and fishermen originally due March 1; 2) interest and penalties are automatically waived for late payment of the tax if paid by July 15; 3) the deadline to request an extension to ...
