The Maryland Comptroller has published a tax guidance regarding the state’s pension exclusion benefits. Taxpayers who are 65 or older or totally disabled may qualify for maximum pension exclusion of $41,200 for calendar year 2025 and $40,600 for calendar year 2026. The guidance also includes a separate pension exclusion for retired forest rangers, park rangers, wildlife rangers age 55 or older, and a subtraction for public safety retirement income that can be claimed in addition to the standard pension exclusion.
